Trifle, in English cuisine, is a dessert made with fruit, a thin layer of sponge fingers or cakes soaked in sherry or another fortified wine, and custard. It can be topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients:
Angel food cake/chiffon cake (cut in cubes) : 9 cups
Mascarpone cheese : 1 cup
Strawberry (sliced) : 3 cups
Blueberry : 2 cups
Blackberry : 1 cup
Raspberry : 1 cup
Heavy cream : 1 cup
Whole milk : 2 cups
Sugar (powdered) : ¼ cup
Sugar (granulated) : ½ cup
Egg yolk : 7 pieces
Vanilla extract : 4 teaspoons
Instructions:
Whisk together the granulated sugar and egg yolks until pale yellow.
Heat milk until steaming over medium heat in a small pot.
Pour milk into egg mixture slowly to temper the eggs.
Return mixture to heat, stirring until mixture thickens. Immediately pull from heat, strain and chill.
Add vanilla extract to the chilled mixture.
Whip the cream, powdered sugar and mascarpone cheese in a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment until stiff peaks form.
Combine the egg mixture with the whipped cream mixture. Set aside.
Place ⅓ of the cake cubes in a glass bowl. Top with ⅓ of the berries and ⅓ of the cream mixture. Repeat 2 more times.
Decorate top of bowl with berries. Refrigerate for 12 hours and serve.
