A meat pie is a pie with a filling of meat and often other savory ingredients. They are popular in the United Kingdom, Australia, Ghana, Nigeria, Europe, New Zealand, Canada, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Ingredients:
For beef sauce -
Beef (minced) : 1 pound
Tomato (chopped) : 400 gram
Carrot (medium, diced) : 1 piece
Green bell pepper (medium, diced) : 1 piece
Garlic clove (minced) : 3 pieces
Ground black pepper : 1 teaspoon
Scotch bonnet pepper (chopped) : 1 tablespoon
Oregano (dried) : 1 teaspoon
Onion (medium, diced) : 1 piece
Olive Oil : 2 tablespoons
Salt : 1 teaspoon
For dough -
All-purpose flour : 2 cups
Milk : ¼ cup
Margarine : 1 cup
Butter (unsalted) : 100 gram
Egg : 1 piece + 1 piece (for egg wash)
Nutmeg : 1 teaspoon
Black pepper : 1 teaspoon
White pepper : 1 teaspoon
Baking powder : 1 teaspoon
Salt : 1 teaspoon
Instructions:
Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add diced onion, garlic and stir until translucent.
Add minced beef, oregano, black pepper and salt. Stir and let it cook for 4 minutes.
Add the chopped tomatoes, scotch bonnet pepper, carrots and diced green bell pepper.
Adjust salt, stir and let simmer for 3 minutes.
Take off heat and set aside.
In a bowl, mix the flour with nutmeg, black pepper, white pepper, baking powder and salt.
Add the margarine, butter and rub in to get a crumble-like texture.
Add egg and milk and mix into a dough.
Flour a flat surface, roll the dough and cut out into your desired shape.
Fill each cut with the minced beef sauce and seal with the tip of a spoon.
Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and brush the top with egg wash and poke with a fork.
Place in a preheated oven and bake at 160 degrees celsius for 25 - 30 minutes.
Now, meat pies are ready to be served.
